The RoleAre you an experienced SEND practitioner looking for a rewarding role within a dedicated support team? A leading Primary school in Tavistock is seeking a SEND Support Specialist to provide high-level assistance to pupils with complex and profound learning needs.
This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will ensure that pupils with significant developmental and communication challenges can access a safe, sensory-rich, and engaging curriculum.
Key Responsibilities-
Specialist Interaction: Support pupils who may be non-verbal or have significant cognitive delays, using creative communication tools (e.g., Sensory cues, PECS, or Signalong).

Collaborative Support: Work closely with a partner TA to manage the daily needs of pupils, ensuring safety and well-being are prioritised through a shared-care approach.

Curriculum Adaptation: Deliver sensory-based activities and EYFS-style learning adapted for older pupils with lower developmental ages.

Holistic Care: Assist with sensory regulation, mobility, and personal care within a supportive and dignified framework.

Experience: Strong background in SEND, specifically with SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) or Complex Needs.

Adaptability: Ability to function at a high level, maintaining excellent communication with your team members.

Skills: Knowledge of non-verbal communication and a firm understanding of early childhood development stages.
