Summary
Minicab Services (Colchester) Ltd are currently recruiting reliable and caring passenger assistants in the Colchester area to take children, some with complex needs, to educational facilities in cars, 8 seat minibuses, 16 seat minibuses or wheelchair accessible vehicles.
The work is term time only, or every school day, for both morning and afternoon runs.
Job Title: Passenger Assistant for SEN Home to School Transport
Your Duties:
You will be an organised passenger assistant who gets a lot of satisfaction in providing safe and caring transportation for patients and the local community.
You will be patient, flexible and committed to maintaining high standards of customer care and service delivery. You will be willing to go the extra mile in responding to the needs of our passengers, so they feel safe and cared for. Some of our passengers are vulnerable and have additional needs.
This rewarding role is driving children and young adults, some with a range of special educational needs, between home and school or educational centre and mainstream schools/educational facilities.
Passenger assistants have to undertake the relevant training in child & adult sexual exploitation and child & adult safeguarding. An enhanced DBS certificate will also be required.
All staff will undertake passenger assistant training via registered Community Transport Association trainers and a first aid course.
Essential duties:
Provide passenger assistant service for the needs of passengers (Children in receipt of a school transport award).
Assist children to the designated school and return to home
Ensure a safe and caring environment for passengers is maintained.
Other duties and responsibilities:
This role is TERM TIME ONLY as per the designated schools timetable. Applicants are expected to have the flexibility to meet the working requirements such as change of route last minute. However, all our school routes are pre-booked and pre allocated and we do prefer consistency where possible across all of our routes.
Consistently provide friendly, courteous assistance exceeding customer expectations every day, which includes building and maintaining healthy professional relationships with Driver, passengers and school.
Support and contribute to a safe, clean environment for passengers within the vehicle.

· Transportation of children or young adults to school, college or day care centres.
· To work in an effective, safe, flexible manner and support the operational goals of Minicab Services (Colchester) Ltd.
· To keep vehicle in a clean and tidy manner at all times.
· Be available both am and pm for all school days throughout the school term.
· All positions are Permanent/Part Time.
Passenger Assistant Requirements:
· DBS criminal record check as you will be working with children, young persons and/or vulnerable adults*.
· You should have a friendly and positive attitude, enjoy working with children and be reliable
· Previous experience would be beneficial but not essential as all training will be provided.
