Summary
An established and growing construction business is seeking an Junior Estimator & Technical Coordinator to join its pre-construction team.
This is a predominantly estimating-focused position with additional responsibility for reviewing drawings and coordinating technical information before projects move into delivery. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring tenders are commercially sound, technically considered, and ready for a smooth transition to the delivery team.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating
Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates from drawings and specifications
Completing detailed take-offs and pricing breakdowns
Obtaining, reviewing, and negotiating supplier quotations
Assessing labour and installation requirements
Identifying commercial and technical risks at tender stage
Supporting value engineering while maintaining margin objectives
Technical Coordination
Reviewing construction drawings to identify design gaps or technical issues prior to pricing
Producing or amending basic SketchUp drawings where required
Managing technical queries with clients, consultants, and suppliers
Developing product and system knowledge to advise on appropriate solutions
The right candidate would have:
Strong numerical and analytical ability
Previous estimating experience preferred but not essential as training will be provided
Ability to read and interpret technical construction drawings confidently
Commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and margin protection
Detail-oriented and technically minded
Organised and capable of managing multiple tenders simultaneously
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000
Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
