Our Neighbourhood Coordinators play a vital role in shaping the services we deliver at Gentoo, working closely with our communities to make a real difference every day. You’ll be assigned an area ‘patch’ within the City of Sunderland to support, so being able to travel within the area is important. A UK driving licence is essential, and having access to a vehicle is highly desirable. We’ll reimburse business mileage to support your travel needs.
We’re looking for someone passionate about making a difference—someone who takes a hands-on approach to supporting customers with their tenancies and enhancing neighbourhoods for everyone. As a Neighbourhood Coordinator, you’ll be out and about in your allocated area ‘patch’, building strong relationships and promoting sustainable tenancies through meaningful engagement with local communities.
Please note that our Neighbourhood Coordinator operate across the City of Sunderland, so your primary office location may change depending on service needs.
A full UK driving licence and a basic DBS check (arranged and funded by Gentoo) are required for this position.
Key responsibilities:
Allocate empty homes fairly and transparently, considering the housing needs and aspirations of customers and potential customers.
Manage a neighbourhood to create sustainable communities and places where people want to live. It involves effective estate management, dealing with anti-social behaviour and all aspects of tenancy management.
Support our customers to manage their rent payments, maximise their income and work with partners for those in financial difficulty, to minimise arrears and maximise rent collection.
Engage with the wider community and relevant community groups to benefit customers and the environment.
Work in partnership with other agencies to provide solutions for complex, vulnerable customers and housing issues.
Support customers to give feedback in a clear and accessible way in line with Gentoo’s complaints policy.
Accountability for achieving relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) and demonstrating professional and positive behaviours within the workplace.
Collaborate with the Customer Voice team to maximise customer and resident involvement, enabling opportunities for customers to influence and be involved.
Treat all customers with respect, warmth and compassion in every interaction, applying discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements.
What we are looking for:
A full UK driver’s licence is essential, and access to a vehicle is highly desirable.
A detailed understanding of housing issues, policies and procedures, including Regulatory Standards and Tenant Satisfaction Measures.
An understanding of the current issues surrounding social housing and how these affect our customers' lives and needs.
Adaptable to meet the travel requirements of the post with the needs of the business, including working remotely or from any of the Group’s offices.
Highly developed communication, negotiation, mediation and active listening skills
Highly developed interpersonal skills, the ability to quickly build rapport with customers and external partner agencies, and the ability to work as an integral part of a team are essential.
