Summary
About the role:
You will undertake a range of skilled tasks working on the highway network, operation of large goods vehicles, tools and equipment in relation to the service function of the highways, transport and recycling department. You will take part in the out of hours service including Winter maintenance which will include pre salting, ploughing and patrolling the network of both County & Trunk roads, working outside of normal hours and often in extreme and challenging weather conditions.
About you:
The right person will have;
Experience in ground works
Underpinning knowledge of plant and equipment used in highway maintenance
Full HGV/LGV licence, category C
Willingness to take part in construction works
Good organisational skills
Ability to work alone under pressure in adverse weather conditions
What you will do:
You will:
Work as part of a team carrying out highway maintenance.
React promptly and effectively to safety defects.
Take part in the out-of-hours service, including winter maintenance activities.
Carry out vehicle checks and record findings accurately.
Actively participate in highways-related works and manual tasks, including drainage
operations, surfacing, reinstatement, and other labour-intensive duties.
There is no DBS Check requirement for this position.
