Summary


We are looking for an experienced, passionate sonographer to lead our General Medical Ultrasound Service across Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG). Are you an experienced sonographer with an interest in General Medical Ultrasound? Do you have experience and knowledge within this sphere of practice? With additional skills that might include - head and neck / vascular / paediatric ultrasound for instance? If so, we are keen for you to join the Ultrasound team at NLAG.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of General Medical Sonographer Cross Site Lead and work within the Humber Health Partnership (HHP), delivering general medical ultrasound services, training and education. Primarily this roll includes cross-site working over the NLAG sites, but there is an expectation to work closely with colleagues at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) with whom we are in partnership.

In this crucial role, you will be responsible for leading and progressing general medical ultrasound pathways across NLAG. You will oversee the ultrasound processes, ensuring quality assurance and supporting 2 week wait and urgent referral pathways. Alongside this you will have a blend of clinical and managerial responsibilities, being responsible for things like: service improvements, policy development, team management, audit, training and development within the sphere of general medical ultrasound.

Working across-site you would be responsible for developing, delivering and enhancing the General Medical Ultrasound Service.

Responsibilities include –
• Upholding safe, effective service delivery within general medical ultrasound pathways, working closely with service / clinical leads across-site to support this.
• Undertaking a wide variety of medical ultrasound examinations, ensuring best clinical practice, alongside optimal diagnostic imaging.
• You will have a shared level of responsibility for all aspects of the NLAG Ultrasound service with the other Sonography Clinical Leads.
• You will act as the NLAG General Medical Lead, ensuring adherence to standards, providing feedback and support, monitoring departmental quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with national standards and guidelines.
• Leading multidisciplinary image review sessions and liaise with Imaging Leads on quality improvement and training outcomes.
• Supervise and support training of staff within the sphere of general ultrasound.
• Manage clinical governance, incident reporting and service audit, to uphold imaging quality and patient safety.
• Co-ordinate departmental resources.
• Represent the service at Trust meetings, contributing to strategic planning and service improvement.
• Assist in oversee staffing, sickness, appraisals, recruitment, and performance monitoring.
• Ensure accurate documentation and data entry via hospital IT systems.
