**Candidates must be able to commence in post by 5 May 2026, this will be a fixed term appointment until 31 July 2026, to support the rota**
The post involves being part of a ward team on a medical ward. Day to day duties include reviewing ward patients as allocated, attending whiteboard rounds, attending consultant ward rounds. There will be opportunity to attend outpatient clinics. Attendance at teaching sessions and clinical governance session is expected.

The post-holder will rotate every 4 months between specialties. The post holder takes part in the general medical on call rota and will be involved in seeing acute medical referrals in the medical assessment unit and emergency department. There will also be on call ward cover.

Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust’s redeployment process.

A shift system is in place. Normal ward-based shifts start between 0800 and 0830, finishing between 1600 and 1700. There is protected time to attend teaching and audit sessions. The basic hours of duty are 40 hours per week.
Shift patterns involve ward cover, long days, nights, and weekend.
All medical emergency take patients are received in the emergency department and the take includes adult patients of all ages. There is a consultant-led post-take ward round each morning.
Out of hours, medical registrars will be onsite.
