Job Purpose

To work as an effective member of the Rising Stars wraparound care team delivering a high quality, inclusive play and care centred service that meets the needs of children and their families. The role supports the delivery of engaging and safe play opportunities before and after school in line with school policies, safeguarding procedures and national out of school care standards.

Main Responsibilities

• Supervise children and prepare creative and appropriate play opportunities for them.
• Ensure play materials and equipment are used safely and stored correctly, reporting damaged equipment to the Wraparound Care Supervisor.
• Assist children with personal care needs where appropriate and support children during snack time.
• Assist in ensuring the safety of children during fire drills, emergencies or incidents and administer first aid if qualified.
• Ensure the play area is cleaned and tidied at the end of each session.
• Record and report safeguarding concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
• Ensure the safe arrival and departure of children attending the club.
• Promote positive attitudes and work as part of a team to support the smooth running of the club.
• Encourage children to participate in a range of fun, creative and active play opportunities.
• Support children's social development and positive behaviour.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all children.
• Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times.
• Support safe supervision of children both indoors and outdoors.
• Assist with risk awareness and ensure resources are used safely.

Essential

• Experience working with children
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Desirable

• Level 2 qualification in Playwork, Childcare or similar
• Paediatric First Aid training
• Experience working in a before or after school setting
• Friendly and approachable with children
• Patient and understanding
• Flexible and reliable
• Positive and enthusiastic
• Breakfast Club: 7:30am – 8:30am
• After School Club: 3:00pm – 6:00pm
