Are you ready to make your mark as the founding Head of Humanities at one of the most exciting new schools in Sandwell? Shireland CBSO Academy, opened in September 2023, is a unique institution established in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. As the country’s first state school to open in partnership with an arts organisation, our academy offers an innovative, creative and inclusive environment where every student’s potential is nurtured and celebrated.

This is a rare opportunity to join us as our inaugural Head of Humanities. We are seeking an inspiring, visionary leader to shape and deliver Humanities education across History, Geography, RE and Citizenship, and to lead our very first KS4 cohort, developing dynamic pathways into KS5. You will play a pivotal role in building an ambitious and progressive curriculum, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning, and promoting a passion for Humanities that resonates with our school’s creative ethos. You will also oversee delivery of Y9 L4L (Literacy for Life), working closely with our Directors of L4L to ensure excellent standards within our thematic KS3 curriculum.
