Summary
The role
You'll work closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team to support the efficient day-to-day running of the group's finances. Typical responsibilities will include:
- Bank and cash reconciliations for the main organisation and its trading company.
- Assisting with cashflow management and administration of pre-paid cards.
- Departmental budget monitoring and reporting across academic, support cost centres and house funds.
- Preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis for management as required.
- General ledger reconciliations and control account administration, including income stream reconciliations.
- Inter-company cross charging between the main organisation and trading company.
- Providing cover and assistance with the day-to-day accounting requirements of the trading company.
- Supporting the Finance Manager with routine accounting and payroll activities.
- Offering general support and cover across the wider finance team when needed.
- Liaising with departments across the organisation to ensure accurate and complete financial information.
- Handling incoming queries (phone, email and in person) in a professional and friendly manner.
You'll be an experienced finance professional who is comfortable operating in a diverse and sometimes fast-paced environment. You will bring:
- A recognised accounting qualification at minimum AAT Level 4 (or equivalent), part qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA, or qualified by more than ample experience
- At least 2-3 years' experience in a relevant accounting role with solid exposure to day-to-day finance operations.
- Strong understanding of accounting processes, including general ledgers.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Word.
- Good time management, problem-solving skills and a flexible, "hands-on" approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a confident telephone manner.
- High attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a calm, professional manner under pressure.
