A leading UK resource recovery and environmental solutions organisation is seeking an Emissions Trading Specialist to join its team on a fixed-term basis for 24 months.
Operating within a mission driven business focused on sustainability and a climate-positive future, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) regulations and driving best practice environmental performance.
Your new role
As an Emissions Trading Specialist, you will act as the subject-matter expert for ETS compliance across multiple operational sites. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring full compliance with ETS monitoring plans and relevant permits.
- Developing and improving standardised emissions reporting templates aligned with approved monitoring methodologies.
- Leading the preparation and submission of quarterly ETS data reports to DESNZ, including coordinating internal data collation.
- Creating, maintaining, and communicating internal procedures that align with UK ETS permit requirements.
- Building and maintaining constructive relationships with environmental regulators.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen environmental governance
- Promoting a proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental responsibility across the business.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience working in environmental reporting, compliance, emissions monitoring, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulation, ideally including ETS or similar frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with regulators and internal leaders.
- The capability to manage complex datasets and produce accurate, audit ready compliance reports.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and health, safety, and environmental performance.
