Pain Clinic
We are currently seeking a motivated, polite, and well-organised individual to join our friendly and busy Pain Clinic team at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
As a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker in pain clinic, you will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their pain management journey.
You’ll work closely with our nursing and administrative teams, providing both clinical and clerical support to ensure the smooth running of the clinic.
Pre Assessment Unit
Main duties include -
• Completing investigations for patients undergoing elective surgery including Venepuncture, ECG recording and MRSA swabs
• Liasing with patients post assessment to ensure guidance is followed for surgery such as medication and lifestyle advice
• Completing update telephone assessments with patients and ensuring all required investigations are completed
• Supporting and working collaboratively with the MDT to ensure patients fitness for surgery
• Providing and supporting optimisation of patients undergoing elective surgery
• Retrieval of MRSA results from PAS WEB
• Take observations, bloods and ECG's and MRSA screening
• Telephone assessment of patients awaiting elective surgery and providing patients with their pre-operative instructions.
• Telephone assessments of patients prior to their surgery date to ensure safety and fitness for surgery
• Maintain accurate patient electronic records
• Liaise with multidisciplinary team
• Check and prepare documentation for clinic attenders
• Maintain confidentiality at all times within the Trust’s Policy

Clinical Duties
• Take patients observations, height and weight
• Telephone assessment of patients awaiting surgery providing them with pre-operative instructions.
• Telephone assessments of patients prior to their surgery date to ensure safety and fitness for surgery.
• Take MRSA swabs and retrieve results ensuring compliancy of MRSA Trust Policy
• Take patients bloods and perform ECGs when required
• Obtain samples as required for testing.
• Liaise with multi-disciplinary team
