An excellent opportunity for an experienced Workshop Operator to join a well-established company!

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.
Salary: Starting on £27k, £29k after 3 months, £30,250 after 12 months – Subject to performance reviews.
Location: Middlesbrough TS6.

About The Role:

The Operator plays a key role in the manufacturing of Metador’s high quality steel doors and security products. This position involves manual handling, operating hand and power tools, and working in a fast-paced production environment to ensure products meet Metador’s standards for quality, accuracy, and safety.

Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Work in compliance with all Metador health & safety policies and procedures.
• Use PPE correctly at all times and report any defects or hazards immediately.
• Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and maintained in good working order.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Identify quality issues and take corrective action where possible.
• Contribute to improving production processes and reducing waste.
• Follow standard operating procedures consistently.

Production & Assembly

• Operate a range of hand and power tools, including drills, rivet guns, angle grinders, impact drivers, and other workshop equipment.
• Assemble, prepare, and finish components for doors and frames according to technical drawings and work instructions.
• Carry out cutting, grinding, drilling, fixing, and fitting tasks as required.
• Ensure all products meet quality checks before moving to the next stage of production.

Manual Handling & Physical Work

• Perform regular manual handling tasks, including lifting, carrying, and positioning metal components and finished products.
• Use safe handling techniques and lifting aids where appropriate.
• Maintain physical fitness and stamina to undertake repetitive physical duties.

Teamwork & Communication

• Work collaboratively with colleagues on the production line.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding workload, delays, or issues.
• Support other areas of production when required.

Competencies and Personal Attributes

• Ability to lift and carry materials routinely (within safe limits).
• Capable of standing for long periods and performing repetitive physical tasks.
• Good general fitness to perform manual work safely.


Qualifications

Essential

• Experience using hand and power tools such as drills, rivet guns, and angle grinders.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and repeatedly.
• Good practical and mechanical aptitude.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and work to production timelines.
• Reliability, good work ethic, and a positive attitude.

Desirable

• Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly.
• Understanding of health & safety in a workshop or factory environment.
