Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant
An excellent opportunity for a Cover Supervisor to support secondary education, classroom management and student learning. This role is ideal for someone passionate about working with young people and gaining experience in teaching, curriculum support and behaviour management.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant to support learning across a secondary school environment during teacher absences.
As a Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant you will deliver pre-prepared lessons, supervise students, maintain positive classroom behaviour and ensure pupils remain engaged with their learning activities.
Working closely with teaching staff, the Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant will support classroom management, assist students with tasks and help maintain a productive and respectful learning environment across different year groups.
This role is ideal for individuals considering a future career in education, training or youth support, offering valuable experience working directly with students in a structured school setting.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Cover Supervisor / Classroom Assistant will include:
• Supervising Lessons: Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans during teacher absences while ensuring students remain engaged in learning activities
• Classroom Management: Maintain discipline and follow the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies to support a positive learning environment
• Student Support: Assist students with understanding tasks and encourage participation and progress during lessons
• Attendance Monitoring: Take lesson registers and ensure accurate attendance records are completed
• Communication with Staff: Report any behavioural or learning concerns to the relevant teacher or year leader
• Tutor Group Supervision: Support tutor periods by delivering daily notices and supervising students where required
• Resource Management: Ensure classroom resources, books and equipment are collected and returned at the end of lessons
• Environment Standards: Leave classrooms tidy and organised in line with school expectations
• Supervision Duties: Undertake scheduled break or lunchtime supervision duties as required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• Previous experience working with young people, education settings or classroom environments
• Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with students and staff
• Ability to deliver lesson instructions clearly and maintain student engagement
• Confident organisational skills and the ability to follow lesson plans and procedures
• A proactive and positive approach to supporting student learning and wellbeing
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
• Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities within an educational environment
