Summary
Harrogate & Knaresborough Cafe Manager Job Description
Responsible to: Resurrected Bites Operations Manager
Responsible for: Managing all aspects of setting up and managing the St Wilfrid’s Church & Gracious St Methodist Church cafés including the team of volunteers
Rate of Pay: £15.50 per hour
Part-time: 8 hours per week per café. (1 hour preparation/administration) the day before the café and 7 hours on the day of the café (Weds & Friday). There will also be additional hours offered to cater for external events.
Permanent: Permanent Part time position

Expected start date: 7th April 2026 or ASAP thereafter
Overall responsibility of the job: To lead a team of volunteers to ensure that all areas of the cafe are run efficiently and to the highest standard (5* food hygiene rating). Also managing the Give as You Can shop and monitoring stock quality.
Key Responsibilities:
• To maintain our 5-star Food Hygiene rating from the Environmental Health Officer upon inspection
• To ensure all procedures (HACCP, cleaning rotas, food hygiene, food labelling etc.) are followed and paperwork is in good order
• To help with recruitment of volunteers
• To train and manage the volunteers and report any concerns to the line manager. Food hygiene & health and safety training is provided via an online resource
• To develop and manage relationships with the team, customers and suppliers
• To count financial donations and track income and expenditure in the accounting portal
• To work with the warehouse team and cooks to plan the menu
• To cook and serve food
• To ensure clean aprons and tea towels; functioning, clean equipment & all necessary ingredients are available for each café
• To participate in training, adhere to appropriate policies and procedures and be aware of the risk assessment and action plan for all activities and flag any new risks to the line manager as required
• Resurrected Bites Community Interest Company take safeguarding seriously to protect our volunteers and the people we serve. Therefore, we ask all employees and volunteers that where possible they will participate in Safeguarding Training which will be provided online.
A driving licence and access to a car is preferred.
The post holders must be sympathetic to the Christian faith.

Essential Desirable
Qualifications • Educated to GCSE/O-Level with passes in Maths and English
• Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (training can be provided)
• Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate
Job Knowledge • Experience of running or working in, or volunteering within a café • Experience of managing a café, working with food surplus or management of food in another setting
