Health Care Assistant - The Role
This college is looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to join their multidisciplinary team supporting young people with complex needs. For this Health Care Assistant role, the college is ideally looking for someone with training and practical experience in Manual Handling, PEG Feeding, Gastrostomy Care, and supporting individuals with complex eating needs.
The successful Health Care Assistant will provide high quality personal care and support to students, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Responsibilities will include assisting with personal care, supporting students during learning and community activities, administering medication when required, and carrying out delegated healthcare tasks such as PEG feeding and suction. The Health Care Assistant will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure each student has a personalised care plan that supports both their learning and independence as they prepare for adulthood.
You may also become a key worker for one or more students, helping to build trusted relationships and supporting them throughout their daily college experience. Training will be provided for supporting students who may present challenging behaviours.
This is a long-term role starting ASAP with the potential to become permanent. Candidates must be able to provide proof of DBS and ID on their first day.
Health Care Assistant - The Setting
This is a specialist Post-16 college based in Billingshurst supporting students with complex learning difficulties, disabilities, and long-term health conditions. Many learners require specialist care support alongside their education, including complex medical care and personal care needs.
The college offers a highly supportive environment where care, therapy, and education professionals work collaboratively to help students develop independence, life skills, and confidence as they transition into adulthood. The service is located in a rural area (RH14), so applicants must be drivers as the location is not accessible by public transport.
