Lead Asset Reliability for a Global Industrial Powerhouse

My global client is a major international engineering and manufacturing organisation, operating complex, high‑value assets across multiple sites. They believe their strength lies in the diversity, expertise and commitment of their people and they are now looking for a senior leader to take asset management and reliability to the next level.

As Asset Management Optimisation Manager, you will play a pivotal national role, shaping and driving maintenance and asset strategies across their UK operations, while collaborating with subject matter experts across the wider global group.

The Opportunity

This is a high‑impact, senior position reporting directly to the Director of Engineering.

You will join a central Asset Optimisation & Maintenance function that acts as a centre of excellence for:

  • Maintenance strategy and standards
  • Asset management frameworks and governance
  • Reliability improvement and performance optimisation
  • Integration of maintenance systems (e.g. SAP and related tools)

You will work across all UK manufacturing sites, with significant visibility, influence and the opportunity to contribute to international projects and forums.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
Drive Asset Management Strategy & Reliability

  • Lead the development, deployment and continuous improvement of the group's maintenance strategy across the UK.
  • Support and embed a "Journey to Reliability" programme, driving best practice and consistency across multiple sites.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for key processes within the company's Asset Management Framework, including Preventive Maintenance, Condition‑Based Maintenance and Strategic Asset Management Plans.

Enhance Governance, Standards & Planning

  • Own and facilitate the company standards portal, ensuring engineering and maintenance standards are up‑to‑date, clear and accessible.
  • Lead risk‑based asset expenditure and planning processes, helping the business prioritise investment and optimise asset performance.
  • Define and track meaningful metrics that demonstrate improvements in reliability and asset health.

Enable Sharing, Learning & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse asset management processes across sites, identifying gaps, improvement opportunities and best practices.
  • Stimulate a culture of Sharing & Learning within engineering communities across the UK.
  • Deliver training, coaching and workshops within your areas of expertise to upskill teams.

Collaborate Internationally

  • Work closely with managers and experts from international sites and functions.
  • Contribute to cross‑group improvement projects and global process development.
  • Engage in external benchmarking and stakeholder management to keep approaches modern and competitive.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Degree‑level qualification in Engineering (or similar) with significant experience in a complex industrial environment.
  • Strong background in maintenance, asset management and reliability improvement.
  • Solid understanding of asset management systems aligned to ISO 55000.
  • Demonstrable experience in assessing/auditing maintenance processes and implementing improvements.
  • A structured, organised and thorough way of working, with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage credibly at all levels - from shop floor to senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to standardise processes, manage documentation and promote governance.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an international, multi‑site environment, including some travel.
  • Confidence in delivering training and acting as a respected advisor/consultant engineer.
What Our Client Offers

Our client offers a highly competitive senior package, including:

  • Market‑competitive salary
  • 35 days' holiday per year
  • Annual bonus, linked to business performance
  • One of the UK's leading defined contribution pension schemes
  • Annual pay review
  • Private healthcare scheme (family cover)

Plus, a wide range of lifestyle and wellbeing benefits, including:

  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Access to employee discount schemes with major brands (e.g. telecoms, automotive and national retailers)
Why Apply?

This is an outstanding opportunity to:

  • Shape the asset management and reliability agenda across a major industrial footprint
  • Operate at a truly strategic level while staying close to real‑world engineering challenges
  • Work with a global organisation committed to continuous improvement, safety and long‑term investment in its assets and people

If you're a proactive, solutions‑focused engineering leader with a passion for reliability, governance and modern asset management, we'd love to hear from you.
