Summary
Our skilled clinical team delivers every stage of the procedure with care - from preassessment and ultrasound guided marking (where available) to aseptic drain insertion, monitoring and supportive discharge planning. As part of this team, the Band 2 Healthcare Assistant plays an essential role in supporting both patients and staff throughout the day. As a Healthcare Assistant in the Ambulatory Paracentesis Service, you will help create a calm, supportive and dignified experience for patients attending for drainage procedures. Key Duties Welcome and support patients as they arrive, helping them feel comfortable and reassured. Assist with preparing clinical areas and equipment for procedures. Support patients during prolonged drainage sessions, including comfort checks and basic observations (within competency). Help maintain a clean, safe, well organised outpatient environment. Assist the team with post procedure support and patient discharge. You will be cross trained as there will be an expectation to cover the Wellbeing Day Service, as needed. Role: Band 2 Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Hours: To be agreed (between the hours of Monday Friday 08:00-18:00) Contract: Part-time Permanent Salary: £24,853 per annum (pro rata), plus enhancements, and a whole range of Marie Curie employee benefits. Location: Liverpool Hospice - Outpatients What we're looking for: NVQ Level 2 in Health cand Social Care, or equivalent 6-months care delivery experience in a Health and Social Care setting (current) Experience working in a day case role A knowledge of Palliative Care and End of Life Care The ability to hold person centred conversations, communicate sensitively with the person and those important to them in a non-judgemental, empathetic, supportive, and professional manner. Someone to participate in the assessment, care planning, review and evaluation of holistic care management plans with the multidisciplinary team.
