Summary
Duties will include overseeing the operation of the Café-Bistro, serving customers, providing catering for various events, functions and meetings, and marketing activities to promote the catering service.
2. Food Safety and Hygiene
To ensure high levels of safety and hygiene are maintained, and all procedures are followed.
To ensure all kitchen equipment, work areas, other facilities and general surroundings of the catering area are clean, maintained and operated to the standards required by PTC, health and safety, food and hygiene regulations, and to ensure there are no breaches of any statutory regulations.
• Ensure daily and weekly food safety management records are complete to comply with food safety regulations including allergen sheets and manage ingredient warnings.
• Ensure daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed and recorded accordingly to adhere to cleaning protocols and safety regulations.
• Ensure that appropriate chemicals are used in the correct manner to clean the catering areas in accordance with COSHH.
• Adhere to approved working practices, methods, and procedures.
• Preparing food from start to finish including purchasing ingredients, cooking and presenting the finished product.
• Oversee food preparation, presentation, and service to ensure high standards of quality and safety.
3. Stock Management
• Monitor and control stock levels, placing orders as required to ensure the kitchen is well supplied, and all stock levels are correct.
• Order all stock-related items, to check and record the amounts, prices, and condition of all deliveries.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely procurement of ingredients and supplies.
• To develop and maintain profitable menus that offer a variety of healthy and appealing options suitable for the customer base.
• To achieve and maintain value for money and avoid unnecessary waste and deterioration of food items.
• To be responsible for catering-related audits, and the correct storage of food items.
• To be responsible for cash handling, reconciling revenue on a daily basis.
4. Customer Service
• To promote exceptional standards of customer service, ensure that all services operate in a friendly, smooth and efficient manner at all times.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
• Act upon feedback both formally and informally from customers and implement suggestions if financially viable and practically possible.
5. Supervision of staff, Training, and Team Collaboration
• Supervise catering staff.
• To support, develop and deliver catering-related training for all staff, and attend meetings and training courses as required.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with staff working as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
• Work closely with the Hospitality Supervisor to coordinate catering for events, functions, and daily operations.
• Undertake other various responsibilities as directed by the Hospitality Supervisor or a member of the Pavilion Management team.
• Communicate and liaise with staff in various departments to ensure the smooth running and promotion of the catering operation.
6. Additional Information:
As part of your role, you will be expected to assist with bar service during functions and events as and when required. This will involve serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, handling cash transactions, and providing excellent customer service. You will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, restocking supplies, effective communication, multi-tasking, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers.
