The role:
Our workload is primarily focused on coastal and flood risk management projects, that require digital design support in the planning, design, and execution of engineering project information. Our design focus includes the need to produce 3D models of a range of infrastructure including: retaining walls and foundations; sheet piling; access steps and ramps; steelwork structures including footbridges, debris screens, working platforms and access stairs. Our designs are often sites in challenging locations and interact with a range of existing structures.
As a Digital Design Technician you will form part of the existing team responsible for providing advanced technical support to our Civil and Structural Engineers. Responsibilities will vary but typically include:
• Utilising Revit to develop detailed designs for project deliverables.
• Creating and modifying drawings, plans and models for project deliverables across all stages within set time frames.
• Producing construction details, schedules, models and visualisations for 2D, 3D & 4D outputs.
• Collaborating with Digital Designers, Engineers and Project Managers to ensure design accuracy and compliance and driving BIM benefits at project level.
• Providing technical support and guidance to junior Digital Designers.
• Managing and controlling project documentation, utilising project portals and common data environments.
• Advising on and monitoring timescales for task completion.
• Understand processes to ISO 19650.
• Ability to deliver to deadlines when required.
• Act as Project Lead, setting up early-stage information and sharing best practices throughout the project life cycle.
• Undertake design tasks with minimal supervision, using good communication skills, and a willingness to interact with all members of the team to deliver.
The team member we are looking for:
Demonstrable experience in a Civil Engineering Technician, Engineering or Digital Design role, with demonstrated senior level responsibilities is a requirement of the role with experience working on multidisciplinary infrastructure or development projects a key requirement.
Experience using other software eg. Autocad or Civil 3D would be advantageous.
An HNC/HND, Foundation Degree, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering is essential. The right candidate is expected to progress towards, or already hold, membership of the ICE or other appropriate institutions.
The right candidate will have:
• Proven design consultancy experience.
• Experience of working in a client-focused organisation.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit CAD software.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to check and review technical information.
• Self-motivation and a high degree of organisation with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Effective communication and coordination skills.
• Problem-solving mindset with a practical approach to design challenges.
Desirable attributes for the role:
The ideal candidate will have achieved or be working towards an EngTech qualification with a relevant professional institution. We can offer support with progression towards professional qualification if not already achieved, and a growing and vibrant workload and team working environment.
