Summary
1. Overview of role
• To create high-quality design drawings for clients and our in-house team, resolving design challenges, supporting effective solutions for all.
• To manage associated administration of related records.
2. Core Responsibilities
• Creating Technical Drawings: Producing detailed 2D and 3D models and plans.
• Modifying Existing Designs: Updating and revising drawings based on feedback from engineers, or clients.
• Interpreting Specifications: Reading and understanding engineering plans, calculations, and instructions to ensure accurate drafting.
• Ensuring Compliance: Checking that all drawings meet quality protocols.
• Managing Documentation: Organising and maintaining accurate records and version control for design work.
• Collaboration: Liaising with others to clarify design requirements and provide technical advice.
3. Key Skills and Qualifications
• Technical Proficiency: Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD is essential, with additional software skills.
• Mathematical Ability: Skills in geometry and algebra are needed to calculate dimensions, angles,.
• Attention to Detail: Crucial for spotting errors in early designs and ensuring total precision in final versions.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify design inconsistencies and work with teams to find feasible solutions.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written skills to explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
• Self Motivated: Ability to work independently and see through tasks without supervision
4. Education
• Equivalent of 4 GCSEs
• BTEC/City and Guilds/HNC/HND or equivalent experience in drafting/engineering
