Summary
Governance & Strategy This aspect of the role focuses on supporting the Boards strategic oversight and assurance in relation to technology, data and organisational transformation through independent challenge and informed judgement. Key responsibilities include: Contributing to the development and review of organisational strategy from a technology and transformation perspective Providing independent challenge to support robust governance, prioritisation and accountable leadership Providing assurance to the Board on compliance with statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations relating to digital services, information governance and transformation activity Supporting collective Board responsibility for maintaining high standards of probity, accountability and transparency Discharging statutory duties as a company director under the Companies Act 2006 and upholding BrisDocs Articles and Board policies Declaring and managing actual or potential conflicts of interest in accordance with the Articles and Board policy Technology & Information Assurance The post holder brings specialist understanding of technology, data and information governance, providing independent assurance on the resilience, security and fitness for purpose of BrisDocs digital and information landscape. Supporting responsibilities include: Reviewing assurance on the performance, resilience and security of data, digital and technology services Assessing the adequacy and clarity of information provided to the Board on digital performance, cyber risk and information governance Providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of information governance, data protection and cyber security arrangements Supporting Board oversight of significant technology investments, system changes and technology-enabled risk Maintaining awareness of emerging technology, data and cyber risks relevant to regulated healthcare environments Transformation & Change Assurance This aspect of the role focuses on assurance that BrisDocs transformation and change activity is well-governed, prioritised and realistically deliverable. Responsibilities include: Reviewing assurance on the governance, prioritisation and delivery of major transformation and change programmes Providing constructive challenge on the robustness of business cases, benefits realisation and delivery risk Supporting assurance that change activity is evidence-led, measurable and aligned with organisational strategy and values Encouraging approaches that strengthen organisational capability, sustainability and value for money Board Contribution Non-Executive Directors collectively support effective Board performance by providing independent perspective, constructive challenge and support to executives. The post holder contributes fully to maintaining a strong leadership and accountability culture. Supporting responsibilities include: Monitoring organisational performance against agreed strategic objectives Providing reflective support and balanced challenge to Executive Directors Participating in appraisal and remuneration processes for Executive Directors Supporting effective Board dynamics, culture and development Helping ensure the Board maintains a focus on quality, performance, risk and sustainability Complying with applicable organisational policies and codes (including Code of Conduct, Whistleblowing and Data Protection) as they apply to directors Maintaining confidentiality of information obtained in the course of duties, except where disclosure is lawful and appropriate External Engagement The role contributes to BrisDocs presence and relationships across the local and regional system, particularly in relation to digital collaboration and system-level transformation. Supporting responsibilities include: Representing BrisDoc at relevant external meetings where required Supporting constructive relationships across current and future system partnerships Promoting collaborative, innovative and value-focused working with partners Maintaining awareness of system-level technology and transformation developments
