Summary

Sewing Machinist
Full Time | 37 Hours per Week

We are currently recruiting for a skilled and reliable Sewing Machinist to join a busy garment production team. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience operating industrial sewing machinery who takes pride in producing high quality work in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

You will play an important role within the production team, operating industrial straight stitch and automated sewing machines to assemble garments and add finishing details to textile products. Accuracy, attention to detail and consistency will be key to success in this role.

The Role
  • Operate industrial sewing machines such as flatbed, overlock and blanket stitch machines

  • Assemble garments and textile products in line with production specifications

  • Follow production sheets, technical packs and sample garments to ensure accuracy

  • Maintain a high quality finish while working within production timeframes

  • Inspect materials and completed work to identify and report any defects

  • Handle fabrics and materials carefully to minimise waste and damage

  • Carry out basic machine maintenance including threading, cleaning and oiling

  • Report any machine faults or maintenance issues to the appropriate team

  • Follow all health and safety procedures at all times

  • Work closely with colleagues and respond to instructions from supervisors

  • Support the design team by providing feedback on product construction and design

  • Collaborate with product engineers during development stages when required

Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work accurately to production instructions and technical specifications

Working Hours

This is a full time position (37 hours per week) working to an annualised schedule:

Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm
Friday: 7:30am - 12:30pm

Overtime may be required during busy production periods.
