I am delighted to be supporting a warm, resilient, and community‑focused primary school in Barrow‑in‑Furness as they seek to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with management responsibilities on a 12-18 month contract.

Your new role
This position involves the full breadth of HLTA duties, supporting teaching and learning across the school day. As outlined in the school's brief, the successful candidate will "carry out the full range of HLTA responsibilities, supporting teaching and learning throughout the school day".
In addition, you will take on a key operational responsibility as Bus Lead, acting as the supervising adult for pupils travelling to an off‑site provision each morning and afternoon. The school describes this as "the main supervising adult for pupils travelling… ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and a calm, positive start and end to their day."
Your role will include:
- Leading learning during teacher PPA and cover sessions
- Delivering targeted interventions
- Supporting behaviour, wellbeing, and inclusion
- Overseeing daily bus transitions and pupil safety
- Contributing to planning and assessment where appropriate
What you'll need to succeed

Essential requirements:
- HLTA qualification (NVQ Level 4 or equivalent)
- Strong experience in a primary setting
- Confidence leading whole‑class teaching
- Ability to take initiative and manage responsibilities independently
- Commitment to safeguarding and child‑centred practice
