Overview
One of our World leading design, manufacturing and installation clients are seeking a Lead Design Engineer to oversee design activities within the organisation. This role involves managing a design team to deliver innovative standard, configured, and bespoke engineering solutions while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor cross-functional technical teams, setting clear goals and providing performance feedback.
- Plan and manage design projects from concept through to completion.
- Design complex mechanical systems, perform simulations, and lead optimisation projects considering cost and sustainability.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, prototyping, testing, and validation.
- Apply Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering principles to support efficient production.
- Collaborate with production, software/electrical, quality, and aftersales teams.
- Liaise with suppliers and external partners to resolve technical challenges.
- Ensure designs meet ISO standards and maintain accurate technical documentation and reporting.
Requirements
- HNC/HND in a technical discipline (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
- Experience in bespoke machine design and project delivery.
- Commissioning and site experience.
- Strong leadership, project management, and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (concepts, layouts, detailing, ISO dimensioning).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
