We are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school based in Derby (DE3). This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and structured environment that focuses on helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The school supports pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including autism, SEMH, communication difficulties and complex learning needs, with all pupils holding an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
About the role:
- Engage and motivate students
- Demonstrate empathy with and an appreciation of the care needs of students
- Implement specific interventions to meet student needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, professionals and families to deliver personalised learning plans
- Provide 1:1 tailored and small group support for pupils with learning difficulties. This is across the years 11-16-year-olds
- Inspire trust and confidence in students and colleagues
About You:
- Experience in supporting pupils with additional needs in school or youth work setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build trust with students
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach to challenges
- A genuine passion for helping young people succeed academically and personally
- Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school community
- Have a clear and precise understanding of how children with special needs, Autism and complex behaviour learn.
