IT Teacher - Summer Term Contract (Potential Permanent)

Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
Setting: Specialist SEMH School (Ages 8-16)
Start: Summer Term 2026
Contract: Full‑time, Temp‑to‑Perm Opportunity

About the School

We are delighted to be supporting a forward‑thinking SEMH specialist school for pupils aged 8 -16, offering a nurturing, highly individualised learning environment where every child is supported both academically and emotionally. The school delivers an ambitious and well‑planned curriculum, with a strong emphasis on re‑engaging learners, providing personalised pathways, and embedding therapeutic, trauma‑informed practice throughout the school day.

The setting follows a mainstream-style curriculum adapted for SEMH and ASD needs, enabling students to rediscover the joy of learning while developing confidence, resilience, and key life skills.

The Role

We are looking for an inspiring IT Teacher (ICT/Computer Science) to join the team from the Summer Term, with the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.

In this role, you will:

Deliver engaging, accessible IT/ICT lessons at KS2-KS4, tailored to individual needs.

Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons that empower students to build confidence with digital skills.

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including pastoral, therapy, and behavioural support staff.

Contribute to a calm, consistent environment built on positive relationships and structure.

Support young people with SEMH needs through clear routines, personalised communication, and restorative approaches.

This role is ideal for a teacher confident in adapting content, using innovative digital tools, and applying relationship‑based, trauma‑informed practice-reflective of the school's SEMH ethos.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you are:

A qualified IT/ICT/Computer Science Teacher (QTS or QTLS).

Experienced or confident working with SEMH, ASD, or complex needs.

Skilled in delivering a curriculum that blends structure with creativity.

A reflective practitioner with resilience, warmth, and a growth mindset.

Passionate about helping pupils rebuild their trust in education.

Experience in SEMH settings is preferred but not essential - the school welcomes teachers who bring positivity, consistency, and adaptability.

Why Join This School?

This school is committed to:

Providing individualised support for all learners with SEMH needs.

Cultivating an environment of motivation, engagement, and therapeutic understanding.

Ensuring staff receive strong training, pastoral support, and development opportunities.

You will be part of a team focused on making a genuine impact on children's futures, helping them become confident, independent young adults who positively contribute to their community.

Safeguarding & Safer Recruitment

Appointment to this post is subject to safer recruitment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check, comprehensive referencing, and verification of qualifications and employment history. All staff must adhere to the highest standards of professional conduct in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education and the school's safeguarding policies.
