Summary

Urogynaecology outpatient clinic -see and formulate management plans for both new and follow-up patients. We are a tertiary referral centre and see a wide range of patients with various urogynaecology presentations. You will also attend the pelvic floor clinic assessing women who have sustained intrapartum anal sphincter injuries. You will learn how to perform endoanal USS and anorectal manometry and how to counsel and manage women who has sustained OASIS. Saline and video urodynamics -you will be trained to independently carry out both saline and video urodynamics (alternate weeks for complex patients who have failed previous continence surgery) with a view to formulating management plans for patients. This will help augment your counselling and management of complex patients with recurrent SUI, chronic urinary retention, untreatable urge urinary incontinence and neurological patients Flexible cystoscopy -you will have the opportunity to learn flexible cystoscopy and administer Botox and urethral bulking agents under local anaesthetic. Neuromodulation -you will be exposed to all types of neuromodulation techniques from tibial, sacral and vagal nerve stimulation Neuro-urology -you will learn how to assess and manage patients with neurological disorders affecting the lower urinary tract. Local and regional MDT -along with the subspecialty trainee you would be expected to organise and run the MDT and action any outcomes. We have close relations with urology and colorectal and often carry out joint cases. There is a twice monthly MDT clinic with urology, colorectal, radiology, paediatric urology, gastroenterology and physiotherapy Research- -the department is actively involved in numerous research projects. We have both in-house, commercial and FDA clinical trials taking place. It is expected that the successful applicant will be involved in all of the above. In addition there will be the opportunity to register for an MD with Imperial College London for your own specific research interests in Urogynaecology. You will learn how to write systematic reviews and original research articles to be published in peer reviewed journals.
