Summary
Connect Appointments is recruiting a skilled Manual Lathe Operator for a short-term position with our client based in Livingston.

- Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm with an early Friday finish
- Competitive pay rate dependent on experience
Working as a Manual Lathe Operator, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Operating manual engine lathes to carry out turning, facing, threading and boring work
- Interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints and job specifications accurately
- Using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers and dial indicators to verify finished components
- Selecting the correct cutting tools and machining parameters to suit different materials
- Carrying out routine maintenance on machinery and maintaining a clean, safe working environment
- Supporting CNC milling operations as required
To be successful in this Manual Lathe Operator position, you will have:
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience with manual lathes in a professional machining environment
- Strong working knowledge of metals including aluminium, stainless steel, brass and various alloys
- Experience grinding HSS tooling and selecting carbide inserts
- Solid understanding of shop mathematics including geometry and trigonometry
- A precise, methodical approach with a strong eye for detail
- CNC mill operation experience - beneficial
- Experience with Bridgeport or similar vertical milling machines - beneficial
