Summary

Teaching Assistant - Language Unit (Grade 7) Maternity Cover
The role is 32.5 hours per week, term-time only.
This is a fixed term post for 12 months
Grade 7 Salary £32,597 - £35,412 (actual term time salary £24,957 - £27,113)
We are looking for someone who can make a positive difference to primary aged children with speech and language difficulties. If you have experience of working with children with speech and language difficulties, have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a small, dedicated team, this could be an exciting opportunity for you!
The Language Unit, part of the Integrated Physical and Sensory Service (IPaSS), is a highly regarded auxiliary education service that provides specialist support for children aged between 3 – 11 years with specific speech and / or language impairments.
Our children are on roll in Hull Primary Schools and are referred by Speech and Language Therapists. They attend for two half day sessions per week in 5 groups of a maximum size of eight children. Sessions offer both small group and 1 -1 work.
Duties include:

Supporting teachers closely in the classroom
Delivering 1:1 sessions and monitoring / recording progress towards targets set in Individual Communication Programmes
Creating resources used in classroom and 1:1 sessions
The role may include delivering 1:1 outreach sessions for children on the waiting list
Establishing positive working relationships with children, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
The successful candidate will be expected to promote and safeguard the welfare of the children they support
Establishing positive working relationships with other professionals, including staff in settings and Speech and Language Therapists to support the children’s progress
