Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the diabetes team within the Diabetes and Endocrinology department.

The post is within the specialist diabetes nurse team for outpatient clinics to focus on people with diabetes that are attending consultant clinics and require timely intervention and education to improve health outcomes. This role is critical to support implementation of NICE TA Implementation of technology for people with type 1 diabetes and eligible for insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring as part of HCL national drive. We currently have 290 patients on HCL technology and anticipate this demand will increase Describe the key tasks the post undertakes within that service: Direct care and education for patients attending Aintree within the 6 Consultant clinical sessions per week. Supporting clinical advice line queries regarding use of technology to ensure patients are independent and safe. Arranging pump Showcase events and participate in the patient education session s. Liaising with external agencies to ensure education and patient training sessions are timely and patients have all of the support required to attend Maintenance of Insulin Pump & consumables ordering process ensuring accuracy of information and liaison with financial teams for timely payment of invoices and accurate data for submission for reimbursement process for income generation.

Ordering of equiptment via Oracle system of pumps and equiptment relating to the Diabetes and Endocrinology department.

Arranging Pump Showcase Events

Supporting with patient education for patients attending weekly consultant sessions.

Maintaining and managing internal processes for pump patients.

Support with telephone calls to the nurse advice line.

Maintaining data for pump reimbursements.
