Summary
Run phlebotomy sessions including urinalysis and blood pressure reading/ recording. Report all matters pertaining to patient care changes in condition/circumstances to a relevant member of the nursing team as a matter of priority and ensure that a computerised record is kept. The testing and result recording of clinical specimens. Maintain computerised records of care, treatment, advice and tests. Provide assistance in ensuring patient care by chaperoning when required. Assist clinicians in emergency management of patients. Ensure that the drug refrigerators are at the correct temperature on a daily basis and that drugs/vaccines are within their expiry dates and used in correct sequence. Ensure adequate stock levels in stock room, treatment rooms, consulting rooms, fridges and cupboards. The checking and recording of medical supplies on receipt and maintaining the 'cold chain' when drugs/vaccines are delivered to the Practice. Ensure appropriate handling of specimens and sending them to the local pathology lab, as appropriate for further analysis where necessary. To ensure that strict confidentiality protocols are adhered to. To attend training sessions on behalf of the practice as required.
