Summary
The post is offered at 0.78 whole time equivalent, with additional responsibilities within the Maxillofacial second tier on call rota, operating on a 1 in 6 basis and based at Northampton General Hospital. As part of the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Group, occasional cross site working may be required in line with service need. The post holder will be expected to independently undertake minor and routine oral surgery procedures under local anaesthetic, with access to general anaesthetic theatre sessions where appropriate, and to manage regular outpatient clinics. The role requires a high degree of clinical autonomy, supported by readily available senior supervision. The department is committed to supporting professional development, including for clinicians new to this level of responsibility. Fixed clinical sessions will be agreed within the job plan, although flexibility is required to meet service demands. Opportunities for additional trauma exposure are available for candidates wishing to broaden their clinical experience through enhanced on call participation. To participate fully in the provision of Minor Oral Surgery & Outpatient Clinics and Day Surgery including advanced prosthodontics. To participate in the assessment, planning, delivering and management of removable prosthodontic appliances for post-operative head and neck cancer patients.
