Job Description:
This is a highly rewarding role to assist a young man who is non-verbal/pre-verbal who has a learning disability and is autistic. The role will include assisting the individual engaging in their hobbies and interests.
We are looking for a energetic PA who will be able to maintain supervision, particularly during activities where he may run or move quickly when he see's something he's interested in, being able to physically keep up with his pace.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The role of will include assisting the individual in engaging in their hobbies and helping them accessing the community. This will include taking them on bus trips, taking them shopping, taking them on trips to places like the theatre.
Whilst the PA is allowed to smoke during working hours it must be outside and not around the individual requiring support.
Required Training:
Previous experience working with young people with learning disabilities. Basic knowledge of Makaton especially around commands (no, stop etc) would be beneficial. Whilst transport isn't a dealbreaker it would be beneficial for the PA to drive.
Hobbies and Interests:
The individual requiring support has lots of creative hobbies and would benefit from a PA who is able to engage with these hobbies.
The individual loves listening to music and playing musical instruments. They also enjoy making their own videos and have a strong interest in buses and shops. He also enjoys visiting the theatre!
Pets in the Home:
1 Dog, 2 Cats.
Hours:
3 hours per week, £13 per hour for an employed PA. £15.60 per hour for a self-employed PA.
