Summary

Are you a qualified Teacher looking to make a real difference to children and young people who cannot attend school for health reasons? Our Medical Needs Education & Reintegration Service (MNERS) supports students who are unable to attend their school due to health‑related circumstances, and we are seeking an experienced Maths Teacher to join us from September 2026.

This full‑time role sits within the Council’s Targeted Education Service and involves delivering high‑quality KS3 and KS4 Maths teaching, primarily through remote learning via MS Teams. You will work with small groups and individual learners, using online platforms to provide engaging and effective lessons. Strong curriculum knowledge, experience of virtual classrooms, and the ability to support vulnerable young people, including those with complex needs and SEN, are essential. You will also be confident supporting non‑specialist colleagues who deliver elements of the Maths curriculum.

Based in Trowbridge, you will attend meetings and training at Council hubs, with some travel across Wiltshire for outreach support. Depending on location, you may also provide educational input at Salisbury District Hospital. The ability to teach an additional subject is welcomed.

You will plan and deliver effective lessons, monitor progress using a range of assessment approaches, and work collaboratively with schools and other professionals to support school reintegration where appropriate. The role also involves attending multi‑agency meetings with schools, families, health services, and CAMHS, as well as supporting wider MNERS team functions.

A strong understanding of the principles of safeguarding children and young people, the use of escalation processes and multi-agency working is essential. With excellent interpersonal skills, you will be highly organised and have the ability to engage and motivate leaners with a positive, creative and flexible approach.
