Summary

Health, Safety, and Compliance are responsible for planning and managing the university's health and safety activities and risk management. The team facilitates safe, efficient, and effective health, safety, and compliance management. They are the subject matter experts for all health and safety matters, provide advice and guidance to the Senior Leadership team and employees, and offer training to the university community.

This role is responsible for statutory compliance and fire safety management within the University.

Statutory Compliance

This role will assist the Fire Safety and Compliance Manager to ensure that the University is compliant in regard to statutory and non-statutory maintenance. The role will be required to complete a monthly compliance report to senior managers and work with the internal maintenance team and external contractors to identify areas of non-compliance.

Fire Safety

This role will assist the Fire Safety and Compliance Manager in managing Fire Safety and the process of assessing fire risks across the university campus. The individual will provide professional and competent advice, guidance and training to university members. The role is to promote a positive fire safety culture, which can be achieved by guiding the implementation of best practices.

As a valued member of the University’s Health, Safety and Compliance Team, you will support developing and implementing strategic and operational frameworks to promote a positive health and safety culture and good practices in risk management, employee safety, student safety, safety improvement, and building compliance.

You will provide competent advice to faculties and support services on risk management, employee and student safety, health, and compliance, ensuring that suitable health and safety systems and processes are established throughout the organisation.

You may also be required to support other health, safety and compliance activities as needed.

Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role.
