Summary


Kent & Medway Mental Health NHS Trust provides a liaison mental health assessment service to the Emergency Department and wards at the counties acute hospitals. It’s a challenging and rewarding service to work in.

You will be a confident and experienced mental health clinician, who will work across the acute general hospital to provide mental health assessments, care, advice and training to both the Emergency Departments and in-patient wards.

The Pembury Liaison Psychiatry Service will be operating 24/7, 365 days a year. There is an expectation that the successful candidate will work predominantly Monday to Friday.

Ability to travel to different sites across the Trust in a timely manner
• To provide operational leadership and expertise to a team of clinicians who often work alone, to ensure the timely delivery of a safe and effective assessment service to the general hospitals for people aged 18 and over referred with mental health problems, dementia and co-morbid physical illness.
• To maintain clinical expertise and leadership skills through regular patient contact (minimum requirement of 1 shift per week).
• To ensure systems and processes exist to support staff performance in accordance with Trust objectives.
• To report on and contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and audit of the performance and clinical practice of the liaison service.
• To liaise with and work collaboratively with Acute Trust colleagues to promote the interface between acute and specialist inpatient and community services and enhance patient experience and recovery.
• To coordinate a training programme to the general hospital workforce
