Are you ready to begin an exciting journey in the classroom? At Rainhill High School, we’re offering a unique opportunity to join us as a Classroom Support Assistant while working towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, fully supported and funded.
This role is perfect for someone who’s passionate about helping young people thrive and wants to develop the skills and confidence to work in education long-term. Whether you’re looking to retrain, return to work, or just getting started, we’ll support you every step of the way.
Responsibilities
You'll be right at the heart of the classroom, supporting pupils across all abilities and backgrounds, especially those with additional needs such as SEND or English as an Additional Language.
Working under the guidance of experienced teachers and mentors, you’ll:
Support for Pupils
• Work 1:1 or with small groups to help pupils stay on track
• Support personal, emotional, and social development
• Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence
• Contribute to setting and reviewing learning targets
• Promote inclusive learning for all pupils, especially those with SEND
• Offer positive feedback and encouragement in line with lesson goals
• Maintain a safe, supportive environment in line with safeguarding policies
Support for the Teacher
• Assist with delivering creative, engaging lessons
• Help deliver specific interventions for targeted learners
• Keep track of pupil progress and classroom behaviour
• Prepare resources, set up activities, and help keep the learning space organised
• Support behaviour strategies and classroom routines
Support for the Curriculum
• Assist in delivering core subjects like literacy and numeracy
• Support pupils in using technology and digital tools
• Help adapt lessons for different learning styles and abilities
• Maintain and organise learning materials and equipment
Support for the School
• Contribute to a calm and purposeful learning environment
• Support school values of inclusion, respect, and ambition
• Build positive relationships with staff, parents, and external partners
• Supervise pupils during non-lesson times (break, lunch, trips)
• Uphold confidentiality and follow all school policies and procedures
