Summary
A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
Applications for this fixed term 12 month post will only be accepted if you have Specialist Registration via CCT or Professional Portfolio (formerly CESR). Within 6 months of interview.
As a consultant in Emergency Medicine, you will join a highly experienced, multicultural team and benefit from a competitive package which includes 1.5 SPAs (flexible). You will also be able to work the bulk of your SPA time flexibly, by agreement with the Clinical Lead and Directorate Manager.
The department utilises a flexible self rostering system to enable medical staff to have greater control over when they deliver their clinical activity, within agreed constraints.
In addition, the Trust is heavily involved in both medical education and medical research and there is the opportunity for the right candidate to become involved in sub-specialties, if chosen. In addition, due to the challenges faced by Emergency Medicine across the country, you will also have the opportunity to help influence and shape service delivery for the future.
The historic city of Lancaster is situated within easy reach of the Lake District, offering easy access to the lakes and mountains for those who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. The team have diverse interests and the department supports a healthy work life balance.
• This post will enhance the Consultant led delivery of Emergency Care to patients attending the Emergency Department of the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. A special interest in Paediatric Emergency care is desirable, but not essential.
• This post offers candidates the unique opportunity to contribute to the further development of the service. Flexible working patterns are seen as essential to the ability of the Department to provide an optimal emergency service responsive to a changing NHS.
This vacancy is at the RLI site.We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
FGH and RLI have full trauma unit status and are closely linked to the Major Trauma Centre at Preston.
