The Role:
The Supply Chain Manager will lead and optimise end-to-end operations across procurement, inventory control, order fulfilment, logistics, and supplier management. Responsible for a small and dynamic team of Supply Chain professionals, you will lead from within and by example, ensuring the timely delivery of specialist products and the highest standards of service excellence.
Supporting with audits and monitoring activities, the Supply Chain Manager will ensure strategic alignment with organisational goals, regulatory compliance and customer care. You will have the opportunity to shape and optimise a critical part of the business, adapting to a new role which is autonomous, visible and accountable.
This position will appeal to a service-orientated leadership professional with experience of the supply chain function, either within a medical or highly regulated environment. You will possess strong analytical, procedural and leadership skills, with a solutions-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities:
People Leadership:
Lead and develop an effective, highly motivated and cohesive supply chain team, with an emphasis on service delivery.
Establish appropriate training, competency frameworks, and development pathways.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
Operational Leadership:
Develop and implement robust supply chain strategies that support procurement, inventory optimisation, and logistics.
Lead supply chain planning to ensure product availability for surgical and clinical needs without overstocking or waste.
Drive continuous improvement and efficiency across supply chain processes, systems, and KPIs.
Inventory & Warehouse Management:
Monitor stock levels to balance service levels with cost effectiveness.
Ensure storage and handling practices uphold quality standards and regulatory compliance.
Control inventory reporting and review cycles with management team.
Logistics & Distribution:
Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including courier services, and urgent delivery requirements.
Lead contingency planning for supply chain disruptions.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Quality teams on demand planning, order fulfilment challenges, and operational priorities.
Provide supply chain insights to support senior leadership decision-making.
Facilities & Estates:
Ensure that the site is kept in a high standard of operational efficiency, and that appropriate maintenance, servicing, and inspection contracts are in place.
Proactively manage repairs and maintenance, including access control and security.
Manage relationships with the landlord, external contractors and suppliers
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
Proven experience of leading of a successful team.
Demonstrable experience in supply chain or operations management, ideally in healthcare, life sciences, medical devices, or regulated environments.
Qualification(s) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business or related discipline.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with ERP systems.
Strategic thinker with operational execution excellence.
Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
Data-driven decision making.
High level of integrity and commitment to quality and compliance.
Excellent communication and planning skills.
Desirable:
Professional certification (e.g. CIPS, CSCP, MCIPS).
Experience with SAP and supply chain planning tools.
Prior experience in a fast-growth SME environment.
