Summary

We are recruiting into our Bristol Youth MAPS team, the homeless prevention hub for young people aged 16-21. MAPS is a team of co-located 1625 Independent People and Bristol City Council colleagues, working collaboratively to prevent homelessness and support young people at a crucial time for them.

You would be working with a variety of young people with different circumstances or needs, delivering short, structured pieces of support work, exploring and strengthening family and friendship networks and providing advice, information and guidance on staying safe and moving to independence.

It’s a varied, fast paced learning environment that will draw on your transferable skills and offers a great opportunity to contribute to our collective work to prevent youth homelessness

Please find full details of how to apply via our website in the advert below. The deadline for application submissions is 23:59, Monday 30 March 2026.

We aim to build a more diverse workforce that reflects the young people we support, including those from migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking communities. We therefore warmly encourage applications from individuals who are currently under-represented at 1625ip, including people from ethnic minority backgrounds, Black/Black British backgrounds, Muslim and male candidates, and anyone with relevant lived experience.

If you need an adjustment to be made to any part of the recruitment process, please let us know as soon as possible.

Who are we?
We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the Southwest, working with over 1,500 young people. At 1625 we are driven by Social Justice and Passion: we strive to do something that matters and take pride in seeing the results of our work in social outcomes and improving young people’s lives.

How we work
At 1625 our work is rooted in Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP). Our Psychologically Informed Framework shapes how we build relationships, use our spaces, and support young people. This means we prioritise safety, trust, collaboration, and understanding the impact of trauma in every interaction. You don’t need prior experience in PIE or TIP to apply - we’ll support you to learn and develop these approaches in the role.

What you will be doing:
• Delivering information, advice and guidance to young people about their housing options.
• Holding a caseload of young people you are working with the mediate their return home/within their network, working with families to support better relationships and stabilise housing.
• Supporting young people through statutory assessments and to develop skills of independence.
• Being part of a duty rota to offer support as needed to colleagues and young people.
• Working with colleagues and young people to draw on expertise and create shared plans.

You will be in Bristol Support Services, of which MAPS is part and your line manager will be our Senior AMS Worker.

Our Competency Development Framework sits at the heart of how we work at 1625. It links our values with the behaviours we expect to see in everyday practice and supports colleagues to learn, reflect and develop. It also means our recruitment is grounded in behaviours, not just experience, so applications, interviews and job profiles all focus on how we work, not only what we do.

No prior experience? No problem! We believe in your potential and are committed to providing training and support to help you thrive. If you have transferrable skills and you are interested in this role, but you are worried about the application process, please get in touch with us. We encourage you to have an informal chat with the recruiting manager to discuss how your personal or professional experience and skills could be transferred to this role.
