Role PurposeÂThe Head Kitchen Porter plays a vital leadership role in supporting the kitchen operation by maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety across all kitchen areas. This role leads the Kitchen Porter team, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and safely, enabling the culinary team to deliver great food consistently.Â
As Head Kitchen Porter, you will supervise the team during service, coordinate cleaning schedules, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations while acting as a role model for standards and work ethic.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂLead and supervise the Kitchen Porter team across all shiftsÂ
Maintain exceptional cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils to the highest standardsÂ
Coordinate washing of pots, pans, and equipment during and after serviceÂ
Ensure the plate and pot wash areas function to high standards as required at all timesÂ
Oversee and maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and upkeep of all equipmentÂ
Create, manage and monitor daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules, ensuring the company cleaning guide is followed as instructed by senior chefsÂ
Train and develop Kitchen Porters in proper procedures, safety standards, and work ethicÂ
Support basic prep tasks when required and coordinate team support during busy periodsÂ
Ensure waste and recycling are handled correctly and efficientlyÂ
Oversee stock levels of cleaning materials and equipment, communicating needs to managementÂ
Monitor and report equipment maintenance needs and coordinate with management on repairsÂ
Support the kitchen team during busy periods and maintain workflow efficiencyÂ
Demonstrate efficient timekeeping, presentation and workflow as a role model for the teamÂ
Understand assigned task standards set out by Head Chef and company procedures and ensure team complianceÂ
Follow all health and safety and food hygiene procedures and ensure team complianceÂ
Have a thorough understanding of and adhere to Jamie\'s Italian regulations, in particular the policies and procedures relating to fire, hygiene, food safety and COSHHÂ
Train team members in COSHH, health & safety and chemical knowledgeÂ
Represent the company\'s high standards of personal presentation and behaviour at all times during a shiftÂ
Provide a friendly, courteous and professional service at all timesÂ
Report for duty punctually, wearing the correct uniform at all times, maintaining the highest standard in hygiene and groomingÂ
Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and all departmentsÂ
Contribute to the building of the team and efficient team spirit as well as having an active interest in employees\' welfare, safety and developmentÂ
Be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capacity as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments if required, to meet business demandsÂ
Attend meetings and training as and when requiredÂ
Proven experience as a Kitchen Porter in a high-volume kitchen environmentÂ
Leadership experience or strong supervisory skillsÂ
Reliable and hard working with an exceptional work ethicÂ
Comfortable working in a fast paced environment and able to lead others through busy periodsÂ
Excellent attention to cleanliness, safety and detailÂ
Strong ability to work as part of a team and motivate othersÂ
Good understanding of COSHH, health & safety and chemical knowledgeÂ
Thorough understanding of plate and pot wash service area operationsÂ
Ability to train, coach and develop team membersÂ
Organisational skills with ability to manage schedules and coordinate team activitiesÂ
Due to the nature of hospitality, this role requires flexibility. The Head Kitchen Porter will be required to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays in line with the business rota and operational needs.Â
