About the Role:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class at a Primary School in Bishop’s Stortford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed individual who is passionate about supporting young learners and contributing to a positive and engaging classroom environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing.
This is a full-time, ongoing position starting next week, so applicants must be available to begin immediately and commit to working Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons for Year 1 pupils.
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and provide additional support where needed.
Assist with classroom preparation, organisation, and learning activities.
Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher where appropriate.
Assist with behaviour management in line with school policies.
Supervise pupils during activities, transitions, and break times when required.
Requirements:
A valid and up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is essential.
Availability to work full-time (Monday to Friday) starting next week.
Previous experience working in a primary school or with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, supportive, and positive approach to working with young children.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teaching staff.
A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
