We have two Resourced Provisions: one for Speech Language and Communication Needs and one for Autism. We are part of a federation with Pinewood Infant School, providing additional opportunities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and flexible learning support assistant (LSA) with good communication skills to join our dedicated and hardworking team within the mainstream classroom. The successful candidate will be able to ensure that a child is supported on a 1:1 basis in their education, facilitating their inclusion within the classroom and delivering specific, targeted interventions. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with the class teacher to ensure the student can thrive alongside their peers while also supporting other children in the class.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Have some experience of working with children, (special needs experience is desirable but not essential).
• Demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills, (GCSE Grades A-C in Maths & English).
• Implement learning activities to enable the children to have access to the planned curriculum.
• Help the children to develop social skills and appropriate interactions with peers.
• Have a willingness to learn new skills.
• Have the ability to support the development of the children's social and self-help skills.
• Use a variety of positive behaviour management strategies under guidance of the teachers.
• Work closely with and be accountable to the class teacher, who will give guidance on the nature and extent of the support and supervision.
• Undertake 30 minutes supervision of children at lunchtimes as directed.
• Plan and review regularly with the class teacher.
• Meet regularly with the inclusion manager, RP manager and RP teachers and contribute to children’s Learning Plans.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has passion, enthusiasm, patience and a positive outlook.
• Is motivated to support and help the learning of children with special needs.
• Can be professionally discrete and able to respect confidentiality.
• Has the ability to think on their feet and be highly effective at using their initiative.
In return, we will support your professional development and of course, you will have the chance to work with our highly motivated and friendly staff team, as well as our fantastically hardworking children.
Please apply early as the school reserve the right to interview on receipt of application.
