Summary


We are looking to recruit a Trainee Counselling Psychologist for occasional work (bank) with the Psychology Department at West London Forensic Service (WLFS).TheWLFSprovides treatment and rehabilitation for men and women from a culturally diverse population across medium and low secure settings and the community. Service users have complex needs related to severe and enduring mental disorders and offending behaviour, and many have significant histories of substance use.WLFSwas recently rated as outstanding by the CQC.



The post holderwill workwith inpatient forensic service usersunder the supervision of a qualified psychologist.The role will involve assisting with family therapy sessions as well as the opportunity to be involved in risk assessments and risk management plans (e.g. HCR-20) and the provision of assessments and interventions (individual and group).Thepost-holder will be expected to use principles of recovery in all aspects of service delivery and will receiveongoing support and supervisionfrom a qualified clinical psychologist.

The postholder will be a trainee undertaking a HCPC approved Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. This is a bank role offering flexible working to meet service needs. The successful applicant should have previous experience of working with service users with severe and enduring mental health issues, ideally within a forensic inpatient service. Training in the HCR-20 would be an advantage. The post-holder willjoin a well-established and supportive family therapy service and larger psychology department that offers excellent opportunities for developing a career pathway in clinical or forensic or counselling psychology.
