Summary

The Old School Surgery is seeking to recruit two part-time Salaried GPs to join our team from April / May 2027. Each role will be 4 sessions per week, with flexibility in how those sessions are arranged across the week. The practice is keen to support working patterns that suit both the successful candidates and the operational needs of the practice. We welcome applications from newly qualified GPs as well as those in the early stages of their GP career who are looking to develop within a supportive and collaborative practice environment. The successful candidates will join a partner-led practice focused on delivering high-quality patient care while continuing to evolve how services are delivered through strong teamwork, effective communication and modern patient access systems. About The Old School Surgery The Old School Surgery is a partner-led GP practice serving approximately 7,500 patients in Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire. Our multidisciplinary team includes: GP Partner Paramedic Salaried GPs Medical Health Practitioner Practice Nurses Physio Healthcare Assistant Midwife Patient Coordinators Clinical Pharmacists Administration Staff Dispensary Team We are committed to delivering patient-centred care within a supportive team environment. The practice has recently developed a strengthened communication and access model, with Patient Co-ordinators supporting the coordination of patient communication and helping clinicians focus on clinical decision-making. The practice also utilises digital tools such as Rapid Health to support triage and help ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate care while maintaining good access to face-to-face appointments. Purpose of the Role The Salaried GP will provide high-quality, patient-centred clinical care as part of the practices multidisciplinary team. Working collaboratively with partners, nurses and the wider practice team, the post-holder will support the delivery of safe and effective primary care services while contributing to the continued development of the practice. The role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive environment where teamwork, communication and professional development are strongly valued. Clinical Responsibilities The post-holder will provide a full range of general medical services to the practice population, including: Routine and urgent patient consultations Assessment, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions Prescribing in accordance with practice and national guidelines Review and management of long-term conditions Reviewing and actioning clinical correspondence and investigation results Home visits where clinically appropriate The role may include participation in triage systems where appropriate, supporting the practices patient access model. Working Within the Practice Team The GP will work closely with colleagues across the practice, including: GP Partners Practice Nurses Healthcare Assistants Patient Co-ordinators Dispensary Team Pharmacy Team The practice operates a strong team-based approach, where clinicians are supported by administrative and coordination staff to ensure efficient communication and effective patient care. Patient Co-ordinators play an important role in managing patient communication and helping ensure information flows effectively between patients and clinicians. Clinical Systems The practice uses a number of systems to support patient care and communication, including: SystmOne Accurx Rapid Health Training and support will be provided where required. Professional Development and Support The practice is committed to supporting the professional development of its clinical team. Newly qualified GPs will receive appropriate mentoring and support from experienced GP partners within the practice. The practice encourages continued professional development and supports participation in CPD, educational opportunities and quality improvement activities. Working Pattern This role is offered on a part-time basis of 4 sessions per week. The practice is seeking to recruit two GPs, with sessions ideally distributed across the week to support continuity of care and practice availability. Indicative working patterns will complement each other and may include: Two full days (for example MondayTuesday or WednesdayThursday) Four morning sessions across the week A mixture of morning and afternoon sessions The practice is open to discussing flexible working arrangements to ensure the role works well for both the successful candidates and the needs of the practice. Person Specification Essential Qualified General Practitioner with full GMC registration and licence to practise Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Strong communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care Desirable Experience working in general practice Experience using SystmOne, Accurx Interest in service development or quality improvement within primary care
