Summary

See Documents for full JD & PS To be responsible for the setting, maintaining, and monitoring of standards of care within the ward Provide leadership, management and team development to designated staff group, acting in a consultative capacity, ensuring safe and effective service delivery. Provide specialist advice, leadership and support to the wider MDT ensuring the patient is at the centre of all decision making. Ensure high quality care throughout the service by ensuring assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of care delivery Maintain staff and patient records in compliance with Trust policy Liaising with internal departments and external agencies in order to provide evidence-based care and contribute to policy and practice changes. To ensure that the recording of patient care is comprehensive, concise, and valid and all team members are updated. To create a climate conducive to the practice of a high standard of care, ensuring the safety and well-being of staff, patients, and visitors to the ward, especially in relation to Health & Safety To commence and participate in research/special projects in conjunction with the Matron To participate with the Matron in the recruitment, orientation, development, and any other personnel issues related to staff as required Ensure that all staff know, adhere to, and have access to all Policies and procedures for Duffy suite as well as the Trust policies & guidelines. Deputise for the Matron as directed To be responsible for maintaining established links with appropriate MDT and create an effective learning for all ward staff To be responsible for ensuring the annual appraisal of all ward staff in order to implement professional and organisational targets, review performance and identify training and development needs To identify, monitor and review annually, objectives which implement and reflect professional and organisational targets To be responsible for implementing strategies which enable quality targets to be met utilising recognised audit tools To be responsible for the induction and training of newly appointed staff at local level To work with members of a multidisciplinary team to establish and maintain high standards for data quality. TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSBILITIES To ensure all responsible staff attend / complete annual training updates and mandatory training. LINE MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure care is delivered to a high-quality standard To ensure optimum use of staff so that standards of care and safety are not compromised Oversee and ensure regular departmental meetings Maintain communication and accurate record keeping within the department. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY To efficiently manage the resources allocated to the ward and identify options for cost improvements and support and monitor their implementation
