Summary

High level of orthopaedic knowledge. To independently undertake highly specialised clinical assessments, diagnose, treat and discharge adults and children with a wide range of minor injuries, including management of complex cases within professional boundaries and in line with their training, skills and competencies. To ensure patients and parents/carers are fully involved in the design and implementation of patient treatment plans To ensure effective coordination and liaison with multidisciplinary teams across Primary and Secondary Care Services, statutory and voluntary disciplines/groups in order to provide a seamless service to the patients and their carers and prevent hospital admission where urgent care is required To identify actual or potential clinical risks and take appropriate action using, when required, the appropriate reporting structure Attend VFC meetings. Documenting full and accurate records of assessments, investigations, procedures, treatments and aftercare. Work with Orthopaedic Consultants and junior doctors to co-ordinate the delivery of trauma care. To identify and case manage patients high risk of fractures. Act as a clinical leader to ensure the assessment of individual patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of plans of care are in place. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations, considering patients individual and often complex situations.
