Summary


Due to internal promotion we seek to recruit an experienced and band 6 neonatal nurse.

St Helier’s Neonatal Servicescomprise of 2 Intensive Care Unit cots, 4 High Dependency Unit cots, 8 Special Care cots, and 8 Transitional Care cots. In addition, Epsom Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) provides 6 Special Care cots. We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for parents and families, enabling them to develop the confidence and skills to care for their babies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles ofFamily Integrated Careand actively support the unit’s progression towardsBaby Friendly InitiativeandBLISS accreditation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide effective leadership and professional development for nursing and support staff within neonatal services.
• Ensure the delivery of safe, standardised, and evidence-based care consistently across all areas.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, compassion, and excellence in neonatal care.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide expert clinical care, all babies receive safe, evidence based standardised care.
• Oversee the full cycle of neonatal care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Mentor and support junior nursing staffthrough structured education, training, and performance reviews, fostering a culture of professional development and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including medical staff, allied health professionals, and families, to coordinate holistic and patient-centered care.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and policies, ensuring alignment with local and national standards and best practices.
• Provide compassionate emotional support and clear education to families, helping them understand their infant’s condition, treatment plan, and ongoing care needs.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating advanced expertise in neonatal resuscitation and critical care management.
