Summary

About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Maintenance Craftsperson to join our Estates & Facilities team. You will play a vital part in ensuring the hospital's mechanical systems are safe, reliable, and operating at optimal performance-supporting the delivery of high‑quality patient care.
This role is hands-on and varied, involving both planned preventative maintenance and responsive repairs across a busy healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
Respond promptly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns and maintenance requests.
Diagnose faults, identify solutions, and undertake repairs in line with hospital safety standards.
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with statutory regulations, HTMs (Health Technical Memoranda), and hospital policies.
Participate in the on-call rota to provide emergency cover outside normal working hours.
Maintain accurate records of work completed using the hospital's CAFM system.
Work collaboratively with electrical and building colleagues, contractors, and clinical teams to minimise disruption to services.

About You
You will be an organised, reliable, and safety‑focused craftsperson who enjoys problem‑solving and takes pride in delivering high‑quality work.
Essential criteria:
Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3 qualification.
Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within a complex building environment.
Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, pumps, and mechanical control systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
Good communication skills and a customer‑focused approach.
